Saracens to Win 2018 Season
Aviva Premiership Grand Final Winner
The 2017-2018 Premiership season finale is nearly upon us and Saracens is the clear favourite to take home the big prize. This, despite currently sitting behind the Exeter Chiefs and Wasps in the latest Premiership Rugby table. There are currently five games still to play, and while the minor premiership is still mathematically up for grabs, in reality it will probably be Exeter. The remaining playoff positions will likely be Saracens, Wasps and for the last spot either Newcastle or Leicester. Saturday the 28th of April, featuring Newcastle and Leicester may just be the decider.
Premiership Betting Odds
As i mentioned, the sports betting sites have Saracens as the hot favourite at evens; Exeter are slightly longer at 2.50. This means for a £100 bet on both teams you can’t not lose. Stick with me… A £100 bet on Saracens and £100 on Exeter will cost a total of £200. If Saracens win you get back £200; if Exeter win you get back £250 for a £50 profit. Keep in mind Exeter beat Saracens 24-12 on 4th March 2018 and they had a particularly strong second half. The next favourite is Wasps at 7s and while its not impossible for them to win, is it likely?
Premiership Playoff Format
The premiership format is very simple. First plays fourth, and second plays third. The winner of these games progress to the final, held at Twickenham Stadium. The winner of the final being Premiership Champions. Obviously, for this bet to pay off Saracens and Leicester need to meet in the final, or one of the two teams needs to be in the final and win. Interestingly, the last three seasons champions have been from these two clubs.
Betting Form Guide
Their current form suggests the Grand Final winner is not as clear cut as Exeter or Saracens. Between them, they have only managed four wins from eight games. Exeter’s last four games have resulted in them beating Saracens, recording a close one against Northampton, losing to Wasps and losing to Harlequins. Similarly, Saracens, recorded losses to Exeter and Leicester and wins against Sale and Newcastle. A 50% win record over the season would see them both teams occupy sixth and seventh on the ladder. Not exactly the kind of form you wanting to be taking into the play off period.
